The Jessica and Roger Rabbit Story

Jessica is a fictional cartoon character created by the author Gary Wolf. Her first on-screen appearance was in the popular film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It was a movie, set in 1940s Los Angeles, that featured cartoon characters interacting with real humans.

In the popular Disney movie, Jessica (huskily voiced by Kathleen Turner) is a sultry and sexy lounge singer. She’s married to Roger Rabbit, but she’s a prime suspect in the framing of her lovable, but hapless husband. She loves her husband because he makes her laugh, but her sexy demeanor makes her a prime investigation target.

Becoming Jessica This Halloween

The Dress

Jessica Rabbit The Jessica character outfit begins with the glittery red gown. With a high-cut slit and a low-cut back, this is the dress that the popular character is remembered for. Try to find something similar at either a gown shop or even a thrift store that sells old prom dresses. You may need to cut the slit yourself, or alter the dress ever so slightly to get the right fit and look. If you’re not comfortable using a sewing machine, consider going to a tailor for an affordable alteration. The Hair

Unless you’re a redhead, purchase a red wig to get the Jessica hair. Pick one that’s long, sultry, and with just a bit of wave. Buycostumes.com sells a popular sultry deluxe red wig that comes in an auburn red and would be a great fit.

If you’re buying a wig, make sure you get a wig cap. These are very affordable (less than $5) and are designed to go over your hair, holding it in, and making sure that the wig sits better and more comfortably on your head. The Make-Up

Jessica is a cartoon character, so don’t be afraid to go a little over the top with your makeup. You don’t want to look clownish, but a little cartoon-esque is okay. The lips should be pouty and fire engine red, while the eye makeup should be a soft and glittery blue-purple.

The Accessories

A major part of Jessica’s costume are the purple gloves. Long and sexy, these glamorous show stoppers go all the way up the arm and above the elbow. Next, are the shoes – nothing less than killer red high-heels will do.

The Character

Jessica is a woman who not only saved her husbands life, but she even appeared nude on the cover of a French edition of Penthouse magazine. She’s a racy broad, and not one to be underestimated. Her voice is husky and sexy, and her demeanor is cool. As you get into the character, think of the glamorous Hollywood starlets like Jean Harlow, Brigitte Bardot, Ava Gardner, and Marilyn Monroe. Combine all four and you’ll be Jessica Rabbit!
